Easter
Stories

Dear Friends,
The other day as I came home from running some errands and pulled into our driveway at the end of our dead end road, this speeding BLUE thing came running up to me, wiggling and slobbering everywhere.

It was one of our dogs.

"All right! Who painted Lucky blue?"

"We did, Dad," said Russell and Jessica. "Now she's an Easter Dog."

(Fortunately, they used snow paint, so it wasn't permanent. Even so, Susan was still embarrassed to be seen leading a day-glow blue dog on our daily exercise walks.)

Judging isn't QUITE completed on our Make Your Own Radio Show Contest yet, so we will put that off just a little bit until it we are good to go. Instead, this week, we celebrate this Easter season with some wonderful programs for the whole family:

Easter Sunrise Service
with The Great Gildersleeve

First of all, we bring back a fun family favorite, the traditional Great Gildersleeve Easter program. Gildy and his whole household are making plans to attend the Easter sunrise service, which just happens to be held on top of a mountain just outside of town -- and all sorts of mishaps ensue. This warm, humorous and ultimately moving story is one of our Easter season favorites -- and we know it will be one of yours, too! You'll love hearing Birdie's rendition of a classic Easter hymn. Originally broadcast on April 1, 1953.

The Son of Man

Now, this is a GREAT Easter program! This episode of the CBS Radio Workshop from April 21, 1957 is the story of the crucifixion and resurrection -- told entirely using KJV Scripture readings from all four of the Gospels. Portions from each Gospel are read by different actors, so you've got Robert Young ("Father Knows Best") reading from Matthew,  Herbert Marshall reading from Mark, Victor Jory reading from Luke, and Vincent Price reading from John.  Raymond Burr is the host & narrator. Music is by Bach.

Feel free to pass along word of this program to other families and friends you think might enjoy this excellent reading and performance of the Passion Story this Easter week.

Next week...

We really and truly plan to bring you the Winners of our 2006 Make-Your-Own-Radio-Show Contest! Be sure and be here for all the fun and surprises!

Best Wishes,
The Erskine Family

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS below if you are unfamiliar with downloading a file or are having any problems with your download.

To download a program, RIGHT click (use the right hand button on your mouse) the link above, and "save target as" (or "save link as") to the directory of your choice.

The file should start downloading right away. If it doesn't, try it again, and follow these instructions carefully. (DON'T cut and paste this link into your web browser -- that will just PLAY the program over the internet (it will be jumpy and start & stop a lot), and will not DOWNLOAD the program. If you want to download it to your computer, you need to follow the above instructions.)

NOTE: If the file just starts playing over your computer right away, that's because you clicked the link with the LEFT hand button on your mouse. You need to click the RIGHT HAND button to download the whole show to your computer.

IF you right click the link and your computer does not allow you to "save target", you need to adjust your computer's security settings (or disable your "internet content advisor" settings) to allow downloaded files.

MAC USERS: In order to download these files, hold down the Control key then click the link with your mouse.  It will then download to the directory you choose.

If your download is unusually slow, it could be because our server is busy or overtaxed. You might try again at a later hour. It should - eventually - work fine.

This file will be available for the next week or two only, so don't put off downloading it if you want a copy.
