Ta daa!!! It's back! Ready to have some fun and make your OWN radio show?

Then you'll definitely want to be a part of homeschoolradioshows.com's THIRD ANNUAL Make Your Own Radio Show Contest!

If you've enjoyed the radio shows that are featured free on our site...you know what you need to know to create your OWN audio "old time radio" story. We want you to create your own old time radio program... write a script, do the sound effects, act it out, record it -- and then let us play it for thousands of families all around the world! Oh, yes... there are Prizes too! Good ones!

Plus, this year, we have a really cool FREE "Sound Effects Library" you can use to add lots of fun and excitement to your entry! Click here to get the full details of this fun and educational contest!

Our newest Collection!

Limited Edition... Only 118 copies remain! Click here for details on this outstanding historic collection.

Okay... on to the "programs" of the week:

Your Own Sound Effects Library!
We're providing this especially for folks wanting to participate in our "make your own radio show" contest, but this would be fun for everyone to play with, so here it is. Our Sound Effects Library contains everything from trains to rocket ships, birds, lion roars, applause, baby gurgles, burps, sirens, guitar riffs, etc. etc. What kind of fun projects can you come up with using some of these sound effects? (ahem... you might think about putting on your own radio show, hint hint!) Note: This is a zip file archive containing several dozen small mp3 sound files, so you'll have to unzip this file before using. Total size is 2.7 megs.)

Boris Karloff narrating
The Story of Wood
This little five minute program about wood and its role in our history is a fascinating little essay that is full of interesting facts and history. Wonderfully narrated by Boris Karloff, this program was first aired on December 18, 1957.

Enjoy!

Best Wishes,
The Erskine Family

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS below if you are unfamiliar with downloading a file or are having any problems with your download.

To download a program, RIGHT click (use the right hand button on your mouse) the link above, and "save target as" (or "save link as") to the directory of your choice.

The file should start downloading right away. If it doesn't, try it again, and follow these instructions carefully. (DON'T cut and paste this link into your web browser -- that will just PLAY the program over the internet (it will be jumpy and start & stop a lot), and will not DOWNLOAD the program. If you want to download it to your computer, you need to follow the above instructions.)

NOTE: If the file just starts playing over your computer right away, that's because you clicked the link with the LEFT hand button on your mouse. You need to click the RIGHT HAND button to download the whole show to your computer.

IF you right click the link and your computer does not allow you to "save target", you need to adjust your computer's security settings (or disable your "internet content advisor" settings) to allow downloaded files.

MAC USERS: In order to download these files, hold down the Control key then click the link with your mouse.  It will then download to the directory you choose.

If your download is unusually slow, it could be because our server is busy or overtaxed. You might try again at a later hour. It should - eventually - work fine.

This file will be available for the next week or two only, so don't put off downloading it if you want a copy.
