This Week:

Go And Be Counted
& The Star of Bethlehem
Dear Friends,

Two wonderful holiday programs for you this week!

First up, we present the first of two fine dramatizations of the Nativity Story... and a great one it is, too! Actually, this is part of a longer dramatization of the Nativity story that was broadcast on the program "The Greatest Story Ever Told", but part one has not survived in a listenable form. (Such is life when you are working with 60+ year old recordings.) So, we jump right into the Bible story already in progress here, as "Go And Be Counted" tells the story of the birth of John the Baptist (that's a picture of mute Zacharias writing "His name is John" on a tablet up there), Joseph finding out about Mary's condition, and the call for all Judea to return to their native homes to be taxed. This excellent dramatization of the events leading up to the Nativity was originally broadcast on "The Greatest Story Ever Told" in December 1945.

The Star of Bethlehem:
A Bible Word-Study by Dr. Duane Edward Spencer

Next up, we present again, by popular demand, NOT an old time radio show, but a fascinating Bible study by the late Dr. Duane Edward Spencer of San Antonio, Texas. I can't tell you how interesting and delightful this study is. We do hope you will give it a listen. It is one of our favorite messages by Dr. Spencer. Stars and planets have always held a fascination for man. The holy prophets and apostles also knew that the lights in the heavens were established by their Creator as signs that point to the truth.  Whether you agree with the conclusion Dr. Spencer comes to or not, this wonderful 25-minute study of "The Star of Bethlehem" will forever change your notions about the true nature of the "star" that appeared to announce the birth of the Christ child.

Resource: More of Dr. Spencer's messages (including a second GREAT Christmas study on "Wise Men")  may be found here.

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS below if you are unfamiliar with downloading a file or are having any problems with your download.

To download a program, RIGHT click (use the right hand button on your mouse) the link above, and "save target as" (or "save link as") to the directory of your choice.

The file should start downloading right away. If it doesn't, try it again, and follow these instructions carefully. (DON'T cut and paste this link into your web browser -- that will just PLAY the program over the internet (it will be jumpy and start & stop a lot), and will not DOWNLOAD the program. If you want to download it to your computer, you need to follow the above instructions.)

NOTE: If the file just starts playing over your computer right away, that's because you clicked the link with the LEFT hand button on your mouse. You need to click the RIGHT HAND button to download the whole show to your computer.

IF you right click the link and your computer does not allow you to "save target", you need to adjust your computer's security settings (or disable your "internet content advisor" settings) to allow downloaded files.

MAC USERS: In order to download these files, hold down the Control key then click the link with your mouse.  It will then download to the directory you choose.

If your download is unusually slow, it could be because our server is busy or overtaxed. You might try again at a later hour. It should - eventually - work fine.

This file will be available for the next week or two only, so don't put off downloading it if you want a copy.
