Greetings Friends!

Well, we are back from a whirlwind trip to Illinois, where we enjoyed a fun family reunion and the amazing Tremont Turkey Festival! And we brought with us our Second Place Winner in the 2007 "Make Your Own Radio Program" Contest, Queen Joanna and the Abbot, by Mary & Laura Kizior and Amanda, Megan & Teresa Dominick! This is a delightful, humorous dramatization of the classic tale "King John and the Abbott" as found in "50 Famous Stories Retold" by James Baldwin. We also have a second story entry from this year's competition for you to enjoy, The Hoyer boys' lively version of "The Inchcape Rock". Enjoy!

Previous "Make Your Own Radio Program" features:  If you missed last week's program, Nathan Pilling's "Arnold Winkelreid", click here. If you missed our First Place Winner "Horatius at the Bridge" by Jonathan Girotti, click here.)

Videos Go Bye Bye for Now

You may have noticed that our GreatHomeschoolVideos site is currently offline. Click here to read why. We do hope to have this matter resolved and this resource back online soon... but are waiting out YouTube's actions in this situation. (They have tweaked this awful new "feature" twice already due to negative feedback, so we have decided to wait a bit and see where it all ends up before changing our own site.) We will let you know when our site is available again!

Hey... Our Newest Collections are coming next week!

The time-honored stories you'll find in these collections have become so incorporated into literature and our cultural history that a knowledge of them is an indispensable part of one’s education. No child should grow up without knowing these stories. They not only convey great lessons about wisdom, courage, bravery, and honor, but references to these classic tales will show up in movies, books and articles your child will encounter throughout the rest of your their life. If you miss these stories, many of these cultural references will be missed. Your child's life will be the richer for knowing these classic legends and tales.

Now the book "Fifty Famous Stories Retold" and it's long-neglected but truly wonderful companion volume "30 More Famous Stories Retold" are available in our unique new Audiobook collections!

"50 Famous Stories Retold"(delightful audio readings and performances by homeschooled kids) +

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS below if you are unfamiliar with downloading a file or are having any problems with your download.

To download a program, RIGHT click (use the right hand button on your mouse) the link above, and "save target as" (or "save link as") to the directory of your choice.

The file should start downloading right away. If it doesn't, try it again, and follow these instructions carefully. (DON'T cut and paste this link into your web browser -- that will just PLAY the program over the internet (it will be jumpy and start & stop a lot), and will not DOWNLOAD the program. If you want to download it to your computer, you need to follow the above instructions.)

NOTE: If the file just starts playing over your computer right away, that's because you clicked the link with the LEFT hand button on your mouse. You need to click the RIGHT HAND button to download the whole show to your computer.

IF you right click the link and your computer does not allow you to "save target", you need to adjust your computer's security settings (or disable your "internet content advisor" settings) to allow downloaded files.

MAC USERS: In order to download these files, hold down the Control key then click the link with your mouse.  It will then download to the directory you choose.

If your download is unusually slow, it could be because our server is busy or overtaxed. You might try again at a later hour. It should - eventually - work fine.

This file will be available for the next week or two only, so don't put off downloading it if you want a copy.
