Curious about What Other Folks Are Saying
About Our Programs? Can they make a difference
in YOUR household? Read on...

Hi,

One rainy Saturday afternoon recently, I was pre-listening to our first download from your company - Hans Brinker. I was all alone since my children were rambunctiously playing upstairs. As I settled into my chair the music began and the narrator began the tale. Before 2 minutes had elapsed 4 out of 5 of my children were downstairs sitting quietly on the floor mesmerized by the story. Even the 3 year-old listened intently! We all remained in our places until the last word was spoken. Thank you for a product that can even calm down 4 rowdy boys on a rainy day!

Blessings,
Tammy  "Let us love one another, for love is of God." 1 John 4:7

We love these radio shows!  My family and I live about 30 minutes from the closest shopping and other errands, so these shows are perfect for the drive to and from town.  It is refreshing to use my imagination instead of being "fed" the stories with video.  I am happy that I have the opportunity to let my children hear the classics and use their own imaginations to enjoy them!

Thank you again!

My daughter (8) has been listening to your stories for 2 years now, and she can’t get enough of them! She listens over and over, and her vocabulary changes and grows as I never could have imagined. Nothing like the classics to boost your options for communication! Thank you so much for making these stories available… can’t wait to start the Cinnamon Bear again, so my 3yo son can enjoy it, too!

I use the stories in homeschooling my son.  He finds them very
interesting (and I have to confess to listening along with him - but
then, isn't that what it's all about!), and looks forward to Wednesday
mornings when the link arrives here.  I've even been inspired enough to
learn how to use the c-d making function on our computer so that we can
have the stories with us in the vehicle to listen to.

We bought Living Books for the Ears (Vol 1...is there a Vol 2??); Cavalcade of America, WWII on radio, LIving History and Holiday Stories for the Family from you a while ago.  Just now ordered the new Holiday Stories for the Family...looks like it duplicates a few from the old one, but has some wonderful new stuff as well!

We have burned these mp3's onto CD's and taken them with us in the car on long vacation/travel trips....being homeschoolers we get to travel with Daddy on his business trips, so we spend a lot of time in our van.  These not only keep the girls (age 6) entertained, but they give us a lot to talk about when they are finished.   And the girls request them, so I know they're enjoying them as much as my husband and I do!

Another thing we have done that was fun, was great grandma was visiting, and she actually remembers hearing some of these on the radio when they were originally produced!  So we spent one day "living in great grandma's day".....we didn't use appliances that weren't around then....so no tv, no computer, no dishwasher....and no microwave!!  We sat around after a good old fashioned pot roast dinner listing to the "radio" (we had to cheat and use a boombox to listen to these)....afterwards great grandma told us more about life "back then".....my children were quite fascinated by the different way that their grandma lived and even after she left a week later they were talking about it and asking "did they ______ in grandma's day??"  It really helped them to realize the advantages that we have today.....and to realize that someday as one of my daughters put it "we'll be old and our grandkids will like listening to how we lived".

Thanks for the freebies....but thanks also for the wonderful collection that can be purchased for such a reasonable price!

We are thoroughly enjoying the old shows that we've received to date.  The kids love listening to stories and this is so helpful to me since my voice can't possibly hope to keep up with the listening needs of my children.  The quality of the literature is great, as are the performances...and the reminder that families need to pray together is a wonderful way to start each story.

Keep up the good work!

Hello,

I just want to tell you that I have enjoyed these shows.  It is relaxing to sit
and listen to the dramatizations, with all the sound effects, etc., and let your
imagination tell you what you are hearing.

There's just so much junk on TV these days, and even if you watch the oldies
like Andy Griffith, etc., the commercials still assault your eyes and mind.  I
find that even with remote in hand, I'm not quick enough sometimes to change the
channel before something questionable comes on.  We don't have that problem with
the radio shows!

Thank you so much for bringing these shows to us via the internet.  My favorite
so far was Hans Brinker.  I had heard of the story before, but had never read
it.

Our family loves these great old shows.  Dh has fond memories of Sunday night radio programs.  We look forward to each week's show.  We also like the fact that the introductory message is about family prayer.  This is so rarely talked about today.  It's like a breath of fresh air.  Our children have taken an interest in a lost era.  Thank you for your service.  We recommend it to all our friends, whether they homeschool or not

Dear Erskine Family,

We absolutely love what you are doing. We look forward each week to the classic story.Usually the children listen to it in the evenings. What a huge blessing for us!! My children are receiving the wonderful stories and this keeps them from being drawn to that room where the TV is on. I am trying to raise my children to see with a Biblical world view .Your program is a great tool for my task as it gives them a hunger for more! Thank you!!!

The call to family prayer is a true blessing for us. We are prompted to pray right then and there.
God bless you!!

I wanted to let you know how much my three children and I  enjoy the programs you  offer to homeschoolers.  Sometimes it is hard to find the time to sit and read. Mostly it is at bedtime.  Being able to start one of the radio programs and letting them listen to them while we are doing arts and crafts had made them want to read books on thier subjects.

The one that comes to mind the most is Treasure Island.  I have been trying to get them interested in listening to me read this book to them, we have been doing a chapter a night ( and sometimes they are asleep before the end of the chapter). After listening to the radio pogram  they asked to go to bed a little sooner so there would be more time to finish reading the book without them alling asleep on it.

It has opened up many disscusions about the topics covered on the shows. I would encourage anyone, homeschooling or otherwise, to include these shows as part of a family time activity. I know it has made my children and I closer when we listen to them, and it is better then anything on television.

Thank you so much for providing this service. I have, and will continue to, let others know about your site.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Erskine & family,

I would first like to thank you so very much for the wonderful radio
programs you offer. You are truly a God-send.

My husband & I have 8 children, 5 grown & 3 still at home. We all have a great love of reading & it is not uncommon to find us all together reading a book, including times when the older children & their families & friends come over.

The radio programs I have been receiving from you has put a new excitement into our times together. We can now sit around & listen to the same stories our ancestors listened to. This is thrilling to my husband & I, as well as the rest of the family. It is such a unique & special bonding time. To see our children & grandchildren listening to your radio programs & realizing that we are now following an old family tradition brings great joy to my heart.

As a homeschooling mother, I find your programs very beneficial & useful for all ages. They bring a "new" element to learning. Instead of me just reading the book to the children or having them once again "jell" in front of the t.v. for the movie version, we can now work on our listening skills by using your
programs. I can cuddle with them while we listen instead of holding the books. This make it very enjoyable for me!

As in "Hans Brinker", the children also learn about other countries. My son was very interested in Hans accent, which led us into a learning time we would not have had if we had not listened to your program. I do not do accents well at all & my son would have missed that learning oppurtunity if it was not for your program.

I could not possibly list everything your radio programs mean to my family. Be assured that we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the new special times you have given to our family.

Tommorrow I will be sending my order for your Holiday CD with eagerness. My husband & I are defintely looking forward to listening to it with all ourchildren & grandchildren over the holidays!

God Bless,
Mrs. Laura Sexton

Hannah (aged 6) Enjoys the sound effects that make the story fun and
interesting.

Caleb (aged 8) - particularily enjoyed the story of the Silver Skates and
Treasure Island it makes the adventure come alive for him.

Mum (age private) - enjoys the way the children are entralled listening to
the stories, and are able to relate them back to me so well with obvious
excitement. Within our homeschool currently we use them when I have to work
on something else, although we are planning on using some on family nites
with the lights set low and goodies to eat as we listen together.

Dear Erskine Family,

Our 4 children listen to educational history adventures from "Your Story Hour" tapes nearly every night (not to mention on long trips in the van.)  They love them.  So, you can imagine how thrilled we were to find your "Living Books for the Ears"!  It was e-mailed to our group from Leanna Gates.  Our children can't wait each week for the next story.  We have been looking for additional, quality tapes or CD's for our children.  Thanks so much for providing this to the homeschool community.  I plan to order the holiday collection.  This holiday collection will, without a doubt,  become another holiday tradition for our family!

Thank you for helping us to create wonderful memories for our family as we listen to these classics together.

May God Bless and refresh you as you refresh others,

Jill and Oscar LaVilla

Yes, we do use your audio books for our homeschool and they are truly a
blessing!  I have ordered your family collection and am anxious to receive
that also.

Here's how we are using them so far.  As many children have trouble properly
listening, I think audio books are a very good way to more fully develop
these skills.  We have gone the more traditional route of worksheets and
quizzes, but wanted something different, something that would do more than
develop listening skills, but would also allow our son to enjoy uplifting,
moral stories.  So, with this in mind, I've assigned different stories for
him to listen to - ones I feel he will benefit from and enjoy.  After the
story, I ask him to narrate it for me (retell in his own words), then will
ask a number of comprehensions questions also.  I plan to do the same thing
with historical material also.

Thank you for making these available!

Holly

Thank you so much for these "living ears" programs.  My entire family has enjoyed listening to the ones we have downloaded so far.  Please keep up the good work.

Hi there!  I wanted to write and tell you how much your radio programs that you have "reprinted" mean to our family.  We are homeschool vendors, and spend nearly 6 months on the road doing conventions and seminars.  Being in the car that much can really get boring, but not with these wonderful programs to listen to again and again!   We listen to them for fun, and also for our son's school work, as many of them fit into the categories of history, science, literature, and many other areas.

I personally was ill for nearly 2 months this fall, and needed to be in bed most of the time.  I couldn't read, one of my favorite pastimes, due to severe headaches and dizziness. What a Godsend it was to have these programs to listen to as I lay there!

We especially look forward to listening to the great set of Christmas programs once again this year.  They are absolutely superior to ANYTHING on tv or movies in this day and age.  Wholesome values and interesting story lines, and many of the shows are not afraid to mention God, faith, religion, and prayer.  Would that we could go back to those simpler times!  Thank you for making this possible by way of these great old radio broadcasts.

Yours in the Lord,
Kathy Kin

What a blessing it is to receive these wonderful "radio shows" each week!  I can remember as a young girl, my parents didn't allow a television in our home for many years.  We would sit and listen to radio shows, even while driving in the car, and I was so thrilled with the visions my imagination would conjure up as the stories would  unfold.  Your free living books have given me the opportunity to show my children that life really wasn't unbearable in my childhood years simply because we didn't have a television and that they too can let their imaginations run wild and have fun while listening to these stories.  To be able to instill the same values and knowledge in my children as my parents taught me through these "old timey radio shows" has been a tremendous blessing.  We thoroughly enjoy listening to these living books and are so thankful for each of you who provides these to our family and homeschool free of charge.  May God richly bless you!

Your shows are great in helping us stay away from tv!

Dear Erskine Family,

Thank you for making these stories available... In an
often too busy world, with so much nonsense thrown at
our children, it is wonderful to be able to share
these classic tales.  Our favorite afterschool
activity is settling in with a classic story and a
warm cup of tea.

Blessings to your ministry

I couldn't figure out where to send a compliment, so I chose this route. I just wanted to say thankyou for your service! It is one of the most wonderful things I have come across. I was given the link and signed up for your emails, and I am so excited about them!!!! Thankyou once again!!!!

Sincerely,

Just a quick note to say how much my family and I enjoy listening to your stories.  They are a refreshing change to the stories that are available today.  Keep up the great work!  Look forward to next weeks story.

My kids just love listening to stories! And there are so many benefits to listening to stories. (One of them is my getting a break!) Its like "plugging them in" but they are fine tuning listening skills, vocabulary building, using their imaginations...and NO commercials!  We can't always get to the library to get books on tape so your shows are a wonderful gift that is always standing by ready. Thank you, thank you thank you! Jill Beck in PA

Thanks for providing these broadcastings.  We enjoy listening to them in
the car during long trips.  Even my younger children enjoy listening to
them.

Hi

I am very new to your website, but I have already truly enjoyed it.  The first story of Hans Brinker was wonderful, but what I really was thankful for was the introduction of the program, when it said that what we needed to do was to pray, together and with our family.  I was so thankful to hear that!!!!  Thank you so much for these great classics!!!!
