In this issue:
The Mysterious Pirate Pit
Rumpelstilstskin
Big Jon & Sparky

Dear Friends,

Well, this week we've got a handful of our most popular past programs ("reruns" if you will) for you to "tune in" and enjoy. If you haven't heard these yet, here's your chance to join in the fun... and mystery.

Adventures in Research:
The Mysterious Pirate Pit

Almost 200 years ago, three boys found an odd tree and a shallow round pit on deserted Oak Island in Nova Scotia and realized that they may have actually stumbled across buried pirate treasure. But when they started to dig... they were amazed and mystified at what they found. This is an amazing story about one of the most mysterious and fascinating puzzles ever devised. Originally broadcast in the late 1940's on the syndicated program "Adventures in Research". (Note: The volume is a tad low on this show, but the sound is otherwise excellent.)

RESOURCE: "The Pit" is still there (that's a photo of it), and the mystery of what is in it is still unsolved to this day. Be sure to check out this neat site about the mysterious pit BEFORE listening to this week's story!

The Great Gildersleeve tells the story of RUMPELSTILTSKIN

Next, we have a great retelling of this classic fairy tale by the one and only Great Gildersleeve (Harold Peary) from his children's album "Stories for Children as told by the Great Gildersleeve".

Also, for you folks new to homeschoolradioshows, our unofficial singing mascots here on this site are Big Jon & Sparky. Big Jon was radio personality Jon Arthur who in the 1950s had a great children's program called "No School Today". Big Jon did all the voices for his program, and one of them was a magical-elf-who-wished-he-was-a-boy named Sparky. "Together" they did some way fun songs that we periodically bring back here on the site because 1) people keep asking us to bring them back, and 2) because they are just plain FUN. This week, we bring you two of our most requested favorites: The E-I-O Song  and Little Red Caboose. If you've got younger kids in your household, you HAVE to listen to these! However, these do come with a Warning: Your kids will want to hear these over and over and over and they may drive you nuts!

Finally,
please do take a look at our "Back to HOMEschool Sale" page right now, before you forget about it.
This great offer will only be around one more week, and then the collections on that page
WILL NOT be available for several months (or years) -- and certainly never again at this price.

Best Wishes,

The Erskine Family

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS below if you are unfamiliar with downloading a file or are having any problems with your download.

To download a program, RIGHT click (use the right hand button on your mouse) the link above, and "save target as" (or "save link as") to the directory of your choice.

The file should start downloading right away. If it doesn't, try it again, and follow these instructions carefully. (DON'T cut and paste this link into your web browser -- that will just PLAY the program over the internet (it will be jumpy and start & stop a lot), and will not DOWNLOAD the program. If you want to download it to your computer, you need to follow the above instructions.)

NOTE: If the file just starts playing over your computer right away, that's because you clicked the link with the LEFT hand button on your mouse. You need to click the RIGHT HAND button to download the whole show to your computer.

IF you right click the link and your computer does not allow you to "save target", you need to adjust your computer's security settings (or disable your "internet content advisor" settings) to allow downloaded files.

MAC USERS: In order to download these files, hold down the Control key then click the link with your mouse.  It will then download to the directory you choose.

If your download is unusually slow, it could be because our server is busy or overtaxed. You might try again at a later hour. It should - eventually - work fine.

This file will be available for the next week or two only, so don't put off downloading it if you want a copy.
