This week:
The Star of Bethlehem
plus: The Other Wise Man
Dear Friends,
Here we are less than three weeks before Christmas, so it is once again time to dive in to homeschoolradioshows' annual Christmas programs!
We have some WONDERFUL audios lined up for you this season, starting with this week's TWO very special programs:

The Star of Bethlehem:
A Bible Word-Study by Dr. Duane Edward SpencerFirst up, we present NOT an old time radio show, but a fascinating Bible study by the late Dr. Duane Edward Spencer of San Antonio, Texas. I can't tell you how interesting and delightful this study is. We do hope you will give it a listen. It is one of our favorite messages by Dr. Spencer. Stars and planets have always held a fascination for man. The holy prophets and apostles also knew that the lights in the heavens were established by their Creator as signs that point to the truth. Whether you agree with it or note, this wonderful 25-minute study of "The Star of Bethlehem" will forever change your notions about the true nature of the "star" that appeared to announce the birth of the Christ child.
Resource: More of Dr. Spencer's messages (including a second GREAT Christmas study on "Wise Men") may be found here.
Resource: Kerry Beck of Curriculum Connection has an excellent unit study (in ebook format) about the nature of "stars" in the heavens and the Star of Bethlehem in particular which you will want to obtain if you want to investigate this topic a bit further. This is a great family "bible study" project. Note: Kerry's conclusion on what the "star" really was is different than what Dr. Spencer discusses in this study, so go through both and decide for yourself!Next, we present the completely fanciful (but delightful) classic Christmas tale, "The Story of the Other Wise Man", written by Henry Van Dyke way back in 1895. This is a simple, moving tale with a wonderful Christmas message. (Van Dyke was a prolific author and lyricist, and penned the words to many classic hymns, including "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee".) This great dramatization of the story was first broadcast on Family Theater on December 14, 1949.

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS below if you are unfamiliar with downloading a file or are having any problems with your download.
To download a program, RIGHT click (use the right hand button on your mouse) the link above, and "save target as" (or "save link as") to the directory of your choice.
The file should start downloading right away. If it doesn't, try it again, and follow these instructions carefully. (DON'T cut and paste this link into your web browser -- that will just PLAY the program over the internet (it will be jumpy and start & stop a lot), and will not DOWNLOAD the program. If you want to download it to your computer, you need to follow the above instructions.)
NOTE: If the file just starts playing over your computer right away, that's because you clicked the link with the LEFT hand button on your mouse. You need to click the RIGHT HAND button to download the whole show to your computer.
IF you right click the link and your computer does not allow you to "save target", you need to adjust your computer's security settings (or disable your "internet content advisor" settings) to allow downloaded files.
MAC USERS: In order to download these files, hold down the Control key then click the link with your mouse. It will then download to the directory you choose.
If your download is unusually slow, it could be because our server is busy or overtaxed. You might try again at a later hour. It should - eventually - work fine.
This file will be available for the next week or two only, so don't put off downloading it if you want a copy.
